An extensive background in both Software Engineering and teaching computer science
Bigi Lui graduated from UC Davis as a Computer Science and Engineering major, and has worked in Silicon Valley tech companies as a software engineer for nearly two decades. He is currently a Technical Director and had held positions in companies including Intel, Zynga, Drop.com, Knock.com, Captain.TV; building games, consumer web apps, as well as business backend systems. In 2013, he was a technical cofounder of an online payments startup, CoinTent, which was accepted into the prestigious accelerator Y Combinator.
In addition to an extensive career in Silicon Valley, he has also taught several computer science classes at the UC Berkeley Academic Talent Development Program, a summer program for high school students. Classes he has taught include C, C++, and Python, across a few summers from 2002 to 2022. He maintains a tech blog and occasionally works on fun coding projects as a hobby; and loves swimming and playing Fortnite.
This summer we are offering a beginner course that is intended for high school students who have no experience in coding at all. While many high schools in Elk Grove offers computer science classes, including specifically web design/development, the pressure of getting good grades can make it daunting to take it at school. The summer course is a great, fun and stress-free way to learn.
